Bits and bobs

Well, I await the plumber and seem unable to concentrate on work. So, what to do? I harness the Internets. And in true Walaka style, I offer the following link farm.

California lifts gay marriage ban!

Oreos go British, or not.

Oldest known bust of Julius Caesar found. (BTW, had a fabulous time visiting SAM's Roman exhibit on Saturday aroundabout midnight time. The place was heaving, which was really fun to see.)

Potted history of ETA. (As most of you probably won't know, ETA set off another bomb a couple days ago in Álava, killing a civil guard. Puta ETA.)

Sex and the City trailer! Canna wait!

The Rape of Proserpine by Bernini at Galleria Borghese.

Human Rights Torch Relay. There's a rally on Sunday. Who's up for going?

Spain's Eurovision bid, 'Baila el chiki chiki', if you can believe it.

Mammoni

Just in time for Mother's Day:

These stories about Italian momma's boys could easily be set in Spain. And they could be women as well!

I find this practical and family-oriented approach to life fascinating. As a student of mine said, and I paraphrase: 'Why should my kids be out struggling when I can provide a good home for them?'

Junk mail

I will give the Scientologists credit for one thing: when you ask them to stop calling you or sending stuff, they are unfailingly polite about it. Don't know how I got on their mailing list this time, but I have every expectation I am no longer on it. And remind me to tell you about Brett and I's personality test adventure sometime.

Art? What the fu...?

No time to write a potted summary of Boston and Washington, so I'll just leave you with this sickening story of sickening sicko "art". Please to sign the petition linked to in the post. Art may be many things, but cruel it should not be.
